Reviews

I dunno’ about you, but before I buy or book anything. I check out online reviews.
Jumping over to Trip Adviser
Just five minutes research can save a tonne of disappointment. Luckily, I’ve done that research for you, and the results for the Old Course Hotel, were above par.

Firstly, I checked the reviews over at Booking.com. They’ve had nearing on 1,000 reviews over the years, and they’ve AVERAGED 9.3/10, and that’s pretty-high in my opinion: thumbs up!

But I don’t usually take one site’s word for it. For hotels, it’s always worth checking both Booking.com and Trip Advisor. Jumping over to Trip Advisor, and I saw the same positivity surrounding the Old Course Hotel.

Trip Advisor reviewers (over 2,000 so far) are putting St Andrews Hotel 4.5/5.

One of the things noted here is “value”, which more accurately, probably relates to price.

St Andrews isn’t cheap. Then again, if you want cheap, speak to Lenny – I’m sure he’ll sort you out a cracking deal on a Premier Inn and you can watch a bit of golf on the box!

History

Built in 1962, it’s a Mecca for any golfing fanatic. Stay in one of the 144 rooms (35 with en-suites) that overlook the 17th Road Hole on the famous Old Course; it doesn’t get any better than that…

The Old Course Hotel and spa at the famous St Andrews is a stones throw from the North Sea via West Sands Beach, you’ll have access to miles of the best coastline that Scotland has to offer.

We know you’ve told your partner you’ve booked a romantic break, but you’re not pulling the wool over our eyes. We know why you’re coming here; you want to play the Old Course. And with a course like this available on your doorstep, who’s gonna’ blame ya’!

There’s a good reason the St Andrews Hotel is popular. Not only is it set in one of the most beautiful places in the UK, it overlooks the most famous golf course in the world.

Spa

The Old Course Hotel and spa at the famous St Andrews is going to suit you down to a tee. And cue the putter, because you’ll be putting 50 yards plus, thanks to huge greens.

This isn’t going to be just a “good” golf break, it’s probably going to be the best golf break you ever have.

But make sure you book well in advance, as there’s can be a 2 year waiting list for playing the old course. Alternatively, head to nearby Kingsbarns (a magnificent links course), or if you’re golfing alone, pitch up (super) early at the starters box and there’s a chance you might be able to squeeze in with a 3 ball to make it up a 4.

Spa

So, your kids and partner have clocked on the reason for the visit; the 5 star golf course!

But there are 5 star facilities available for all the family. And that includes a luxury spa for maximum unwind, and a rooftop hot tub; perfect for relaxing after 18 holes with a glass of bubbly!

For the kids? There’s a quaint 20 yard swimming pool, and you’ll all have access to the hotel’s fitness centre.

Technology

Even a country manor can incorporate latest mod-cons. So, on the evenings, there’s something for the whole family to keep entertained, with flat screen TVs, and of course, the all-important Wi-Fi, which is included free of charge.

Dining

Pining for a luxury snack, want to book a romantic meal, or just a sampling of one of the 200 different whiskies on offer? St Andrews Road Hole Restaurant has you covered and is backed by 3 prestigious AA Rosettes.

And if you’re not dressed to the nines and prefer something more casual, check out the Sands Grill, or the pub and bar area.
