Things to do in and around Stratford-upon-Avon
Just ten minutes from the hotel is beautiful historic Stratford-upon-Avon - probably most famous for being William Shakespeare’s birthplace. No visit to Stratford would be complete without taking a walking tour of this charming medieval market town. Popular with locals and tourists alike, walking tours are a fun and entertaining way to learn more about the life and times of the Bard, as well as Stratford’s history and attractions.
If you prefer to do some exploring under your own steam, hire a bike to explore the town, then go for a nice leisurely cycle along the river. Alternatively, take a river cruise or hire
a rowing boat or punt and enjoy a trip along the River Avon.
When in Shakespeare’s Country it would be rude not to take in a play at the renowned Royal Shakespeare Company. If you don’t have the time to enjoy a live performance at the RSC, take the backstage tour to discover some interesting facts about the world famous theatre company. Don’t forget to visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage & Gardens in nearby Shottery. Nestled in nine acres of woodland, orchards and gardens, this 500-year-old farmhouse was home to Shakespeare’s wife.
Less than six miles away from the hotel you’ll find the Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club. The oldest golf club in the area, it’s highly regarded for its challenging and picturesque 18-hole par 72 course. Incidentally, Samuel Ryder – the founder of the Ryder Cup – was a former Captain.
