Wedding trends are constantly changing. Whether you’re newly engaged, or planning to tie the knot at some point this year, what’s hot - and what’s not - in the world of weddings can have a huge influence on your special day.

To help inspire your big day, we’ve scoured Instagram, Pinterest and read a lot of wedding blogs to bring you our favourite 2017 wedding trends. Let’s take a look at what’s big right now in the world of weddings…

Colour comeback

When you’re planning a wedding, it can be pretty tough to decide on a colour scheme. But one of the big trends for 2017 is to ditch the classic all-white wedding look. Adding a splash of colour is a great way to show off your individual style, and bold shades and bright colours are in. To be really on trend, incorporate the Pantone colour of the year, Greenery into your colour palette.

Elaborate entrances

Channel your inner movie star by walking the red carpet as you make your way into your wedding venue. Or make the ultimate statement by flying in via helicopter - The Billesley Manor Hotel has its very own helipad! It’s a glamorous and exciting way to make an entrance.

Make a grand exit

You want your exit to be just as memorable as your entrance, so you could opt for a traditional vintage car or a horse-drawn carriage. Flashy sports cars, motorbikes and even bicycles are popular alternative means of transportation. But if you want to make a more glamorous getaway, a hot air balloon would certainly fit the bill. Don’t forget some attention-grabbing entertainment, like fire breathers and stilt walkers, if you really want to spice things up.

Include your dog/cat/horse in your wedding

When you get married, it’s natural to want your best friend at your wedding. Even if that best friend has four legs and a tail. From dogs and cats to rabbits and horses, pets have become increasingly popular wedding guests. Some even like to take on important roles, like walking you down the aisle or acting as a ring bearer, which is a fun element for all to enjoy. Although it’s advisable to check with your wedding venue first!

Unique invitations

Wedding invitations not only show off your personality, but they provide guests with a first impression of your wedding. In 2017 it’s all about thinking outside the box. Having a photograph of you and your fiancé on your wedding invitations is set to be a big trend in 2017. Other trends include bespoke illustrations, foil stamping, glow-in-the-dark ink and bold colour choices for your stationary. Alternatively, you could send save-the-date via email, with a photo of you and your fiancé instead. It’s on trend and environmentally friendly.

Let there be light

Incorporating plenty of candles, tea lights and fairy lights into your wedding décor is the perfect way to add to an already romantic atmosphere. Your venue might even have some accessories that you can utilise on your special day. It’s worth adding this question to your list when you’re making arrangements with the venue, as some might have a no candle policy.

A twist on the traditional guest book

Guest books are a traditional element of most weddings, capturing everyone that attended your special day. But rather than flipping through an album of hand written messages, find something fun and interactive, like setting up a video photo booth as an alternative. Friends and family will be queuing up to record their messages to you, especially if you throw in some props too!
